Phnom Penh: Cambodia has placed an order for two million rapid test kits from China. They are expected to arrive in the country next week. Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Chea Vandeth, confirmed the order on Wednesday afternoon. The rapid test kits will be sold through the ministry for just $2 each. He says they have the same level of accuracy as the $3.70 kits that have been imported from South Korea.
The difference is that the Chinese test kits do not need a swab placing deep into the nostrils. Only a shallow-nostril swab is needed. The kits were ordered on the recommendation of Prime Minister Hun Sen in order to contribute to the government's efforts to curb the further spread of Covid-19, especially the Delta variant.
Businesses wishing to order test kits for their staff and/or customers can contact the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications directly. To confirm, the Chinese test kits arriving next week are being sold for $2 each, while the South Korean test kits can be bought for $3.70 apiece.
